Welcome to Múinteoir Kay's Room. 

She is our dedicated EAL (English as an Additional Language) teacher.

She supports pupils who are learning English for the first time. She progresses pupils from learning basic communication skills and vocabulary to comprehension, reading and writing skills. She uses BICS (Basic Interpersonal Communication Skills) and CALP (Cognitive Academic Language Proficiency) strategies for effective language learning in school. We've had many pupils join our school with no English and to see their progress in learning English is amazing!
